Psalms 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Praise God. The scripture is reminding us that it is the Lord who blesses our daily lives; our domestic duties; our business opportunities and our various labours, beloved rising early, without His blessings would not secure what is hoped to accomplish, for everything is still in the hand of God. Health, strength, clearness of mind, and success, are all under His control.

The Lord is the one Who provides for our everyday needs, and it is upon Him that each one of us should justifiably depend.

He (The Lord) pours out His favour on our labour, and establish the works of our hands. “Deuteronomy 28:12”.

But beloved, when our toil is diverted from His providence, or when we undertake to work in our own strength, we discover the futility of our actions. When we seek to be independent of the Lord,  we find out how vain it is to rise up early and retire late in order to eat the bread of painful labours, because we will no longer enjoy the gifts of His provisions and protections He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.

What a lovely truth to realise that the Lord is not only the Author of that blissful sleep that refreshes us daily... He gives gifts to His beloved children, even when they are sleeping.

Sleep which benefit our spirit, soul and body. His gifts and grace continues to flow from Him to us as long we depend on Him.
